Everyone was very surprised when Willa was born.

There was a well-known boulder on the plains, in a thicket of tall grass that was sheltered in a cove of trees. It was a healthy size, and used as a comfortable seat frequently -- one could perch and secretly gaze upon the flatlands, or simply curl up and take a nap.

One day, whilst Chicory was sitting at her leisure, she felt a stirring. There was a resounding crack, like wood snapping, and felt her rock shift. In moments, it entirely crumbled to pieces, leaving a fully-grown Skydancer in its wake.

Astounded, but taking it in stride, Chicory politely assisted in brushing her off with her tail, and introduced herself.


Willa, after gaining coherency, turned out to be a splendidly kind and soft-spoken creature, fond of napping in the warmth of the sun and playing with flowers. Chicory continues to be her closest companion, and to this day, they have no clue why there was a Skydancer in a rock.
