Biography

"Come along Hellas, the battle is not over yet."

Dusk Shine is a former general, he led his soldiers into victory against rival clans many times. As a hatchling Dusk was set into a life of military, he studied battles, fighting techniques, strengths and weaknesses in different flights, breeds, and beastclan, and he was taught to wield a sword. Despite his inherent skill Dusk had no desire to fight, he was expected to by his family. When his first conflict rose -a rival challenging his father for the position of clan leader, Dusk Shine was told to accept the duel as his father’s champion. When Dusk Shine killed that mirror his life was changed forever. He became resigned to his battle oriented life and rose quickly in the clan’s guard.

Dusk took his father’s place as clan leader after the old dragon's death, and the clan prospered for a time. However, two years after Dusk Shine took power, the clans around him joined together and waged war on him and his clan. The result was bloodshed unlike anything they had seen. When the war ended none of the clans in the coalition nor even Dusk's had more than a few hundred dragons each, and, so that they were not conquered by other rivals, they all banded together into one new clan. Dusk remained in this clan for only a brief time, as it was no longer the home he knew and he was hardly welcome.

When Dusk left he took very little with him: his armour, his sword and shield, a pack with food and drink for a month, and his familiar Hellas. Hellas may not be able to speak to dragons, but he is Dusk's oldest and best friend nonetheless. Hellas is also a surprisingly skilled fighter, even able to defeat small dragons on his own.

Dusk traveled for many years without aim. He took odd jobs where he could get them, mostly scaring off dangerous fauna, fighting beastclan, and escorting dragons from place to place. One day he was offered enough treasure to survive for months if he acted as an escort all the way to the Starwood Strand from the Forum of the Obscured Crescent before Night of the Nocturne began in a couple of weeks. Despite the length of the journey and difficulty of the request, he accepted. He was quite put off by the dragon he was watching over; a peculiar skydancer named Asteria. She was not like other skydancers; she was quiet and focused, as well as practical and cold to most. None know exactly what happened on their journey, but when they reached Kage no Sekai with mere hours to spare, Dusk Shine made the decision to continue guarding Asteria in this clan.
