The Void Walkers
Beings that live in the spaces between dimensions. Items from several dimensions can phase in and out within the physical spaces they inhabit. They like to live in closed spaces. In special lighting, their reflective eyes are the only indicator of their presence. Not much is known about these creatures, their physical appearance, behavior, and motives are unknown.

Due to the presence of these creatures, our library is truly gifted.
We can only assume this cavern is a location of similar libraries--and/or empty tunnels-- throughout several dimensions. Catalogued books will disappear from our shelves and be replaced by new, sometimes completely foreign books. These new books should be treated with caution, lest an even worse curse befalls us.

This begs the question... I (Viola) started this library. Was this decision born of free will? Or did fate have a role in this tale?

We believe their originator and/or mother resides in this area. An absolutely terrifying creature, but has caused us little intentional harm. We all decided NOT to pursue investigations into this horror.

What if a bunch of void Spirals digging tunnels in between dimensions is responsible for stuff popping in or out of existence as they fall in?

Alternatively, maybe it's like sewing. The tunnels act as stitches between planes to hold them together. It paradoxically makes both planes more stable because they use each other as a backbone.
