The Ringmaster of the Circus


Weaver's parents had abandoned the nest by the time she had hatched. Her tiny body only just large enough not to slip through the gaps in the driftwood nest. It took several weeks for her eyes to finally start working properly. It seemed that the coldness of her empty nest had damaged her eyes, causing them to twist and coil into spirals. Nevertheless, she took off, finally leaving the damp lonely nest she hatched into.
In the air now, she felt something calling out to her, a whisper of some kind. It pulled her towards the thorny branches of the foxfire bramble. Eventually she found a clearing. As she drew closer she could hear music. The whispers had grown into the most beautiful songs, the wind though the trees played an enthralling melody. She was swept away into a deep trance, hypnotised by the music. She felt her body spin and move and twirl, forming impossible shapes as she lost herself in the darkness.
