Shamirs life started alone. An abandoned egg left in Wind territory, no one around for miles. So nobody witnessed her hatching, nobody saw the storm that broke free from the egg and filled the air with the smell of ozone and rain. Days later, a lost little hatchling was found by scouts of a nearby Wind clan. She was weak and hungry, but the dragons that found her later claimed that there was a spark of something different in her eyes.

It took Shamir a long time to realize her feelings towards Sasha, and that he was head over heels for her. He was funny and optimistic and their personalities just seemed to click in a way she never thought possible. The evening he confessed his love for her, she forgot how to use words. It was the first and only time she didn't know what to say.

The happiest days of her life turned into the most terrible ones. Shamir learned to hate, standing over the the dead body of her lover. Something in her changed, losing him only days after they found their eggs, dead and lifeless. Something changed, the tone of her voice, the intensity of her eyes. No one dared to talk about it.
