Biography

He’d finally done it. Pulled and separated enough of his essence to form a stone that fit nicely in his claw. His gift to her, his love, his Mana. She was the first he’d truly loved, and the one that would hold his heart evermore. She had seen past what all the others had merely accepted. She dove and questioned. She called to him one night, asking him not for his aid or power, but for just a talk. He’d accepted faster than he could think. She did not fear him. She would never fear him.

He stared at the dark onyx crystal, his gift, and couldn’t wait to present it to her. He was pleased with it. He’d give it to her the next time she visited his temple. She always came, he could set the stars by her visits, but today she did not come. Nor the next. By the third day, he was worried and checked the souls to be weighed. She was not among them. She never missed a meeting. Something was wrong. He would find out why.

There! His attention sharpened and he felt her. Sorrow laced her heart, dismay written in her soul. He growled and looked again to his gift, and touched it. He would give it to her, but first, he had to get her back. He would get her back.
He appeared to the King Mahad in the mortal’s dream.
“You took what does not belong to you” his voice echoed from every shadowy corner.
“I have every right, My rule is blessed by the gods themselves!” the king spat back at the shadows.
“You’re place in life was blessed by Ra and a few others... I am not one of them.”
“Still it is my right to have any female I want for my queen! You will not stop me.” Shadows crept closer threatening to choke out what little light was present in the dream, as well as the life of the mortal king.
“You have taken from me... Now you threaten me, perhaps I’ll take something for myself of yours...” The king stood firm staring into the shadows as the glow of Anubis’ violet-colored eyes opened in front of his face. “Perhaps, I will take something most dear to you, in balance to what you’ve taken.” Anubis let the words echo in the air for a moment before backing out of the dream, knowing the king would be waking in a cold sweat at the same time.
Anubis looked to his gift for his love and growled letting loose the last of his plagues. Now he would wait. He was resting when his assistant Ammut came in, a wide grin on her lips. He stood up knowing why she here.
“You are devious in your revenge, Anubis” Her voice was raspy and low “You’ve two souls to weigh” Anubis nodded and followed her, it wouldn’t take long.

He’d just finished weighing the soul of the king’s sister when he heard it. A cry, a voice he was familiar with, Mana. His ears perked, and he turned his attention to his temple. Yes, she was there at his altar, in her wedding silks, calling for him. Radiant, he thought and smiled.
“Finish this for me Ammut, I have other business to attend to” He left not giving his assistant any time to respond. Pulling upon his power he stepped into his temple before Mana and wordlessly lead her home.
