Make flour using any of the ingredients above in the Starches list- take your starch or grain of choice, and grind until smooth.
  • Sweet Potato Vines are good for a thick, starchy flour, and can be used for pastries that are meant to be thick rather than light and airy.
  • Acorn flour isn't as tasty as other flours, but it's perfect for a traveling chef! If you're in an environment with trees, it's relatively easy to find acorns and grind up a quick flour for pancakes and similar.
  • If you can find a Centaur Ration Pouch, you have hit the jackpot! Although flour made from it will be much more nutty and thick due to the oats, it's presweetened with sugar and honey to make a delicious sweet pastry.
  • Any stored Heavy Grainbaskets, Grassland Grains, Quinoa and White Quinoa are good for bread flours. They can last for a while if stored correctly, and with the right amount of vegetable oil, honey, and Wisp Fruits, they'll make wonderful cake doughs.

Taking your chosen flour, you'll want to add a couple claw's worth of vegetable oil, a splash of water, and a pinch of salt. Knead the mixture together until your dough is stretchy to the point of firmness, but not dried out. If you do notice it drying, splash some more water on top and knead it in.
  • For cakes, take your dough and shape it into a rough circle or square, whichever you want. However, if you want a fruit/berry flavor in your dough, make sure the berry or fruit of choice is diced and incorporated before you shape the dough. Place the dough into a clay oven or by a willing Fire dragon, and cook at flame temperature for about 20 minutes. Check the inside by sticking a clean claw or scraped-clean stick in, and seeing if any dough is still sticky. If it needs to be cooked longer, bake for 10-minute intervals. If the dough is good all the way through, move on to decorating!
  • For small pastries such as cupcakes, doughnuts, or cookies, do much the same as the above, but shape the dough into small half-paw-sized or paw-sized balls, depending on the dragon breed. Cupcakes require much the same flour type as cakes. Doughnuts are nice with a thick flour, and instead of being baked, will be put into vegetable oil and fried. Cookies are best with acorn flour or centaur rations, adding a nutty flavor instead of wheat grain.
  • If you're making a light pastry with the intent of flakiness, dice up as much Wisp Fruit as you can and add it into the dough as evenly as possible. When it's baked, the fruit will melt down into the dough, leaving air pockets for the dough to crisp around.

Your pastries and cakes just aren't finished until you add some flair and decorations! Pick a general idea- maybe based off a flavor, perhaps a specific theme matching a dragon's occupation, or even an elemental flight. Choose colors that match or compliment each other well, along with decorations that go with your theme.
  • Icing: combine sugar, goat butter, and goat milk if you can manage it (though water does in a pinch). Taking your food item with your preferred color, dice it finely and mix it into the icing in small amounts, until you have a good color throughout all of the icing. Waterskins that have been cut open are good for piping icing onto a cake so you can make patterns, or you can spread it over your cake or pastry all at once.
  • Flowers are a good general decoration, but you can add materials of any sort if you think they look nice. Just make sure inedible items are removed before everyone digs in!
