The long, frozen corridors of the Fortress of Ends carried the voice of a young Pearlcatcher far beyond her own cell. The Gaolers that were guarding the dangerous dragons and creatures of shade had gotten used to the singing a long time ago and most found the sound an enjoyable distraction from the usual silence the thick ice walls brought with them. A small cell, at the end of a particularly long hallway, kept the small female from the rest of the world. Two giant Gaolers towered in front of the large iron door, her voice still echoing through the halls.

Wise men say, only fools rush in. But I can't help, falling in love with you

Shivers ran down the shorter Gaolers spine and he shot a look towards hit partner as the voice of the young prisoner got louder. The familiar song sounded wrong coming from within the cold prison cell, too quiet and too slow. More like a threat or a warning than a loving song and the Gaolers grew uneasier with every word she sang. The singing had never struck fear into the Gaolers of the Fortress, but this song, in particular, sounded like she was in their heads, like she was scheming. The panicked Gaoler looked back to his partner and saw the fear clear in his eyes as he was told to get a sentinel to help with the situation.

Shall I stay? Would it be a sin? If I can't help, falling in love with you?

Behind the door a young purple Pearlcatcher sat, waiting. She knew he was close and she knew he would hear her song. Her paws were chained to the wall and Wisdom could barely move, her magic had been blocked by the collar she had been given when she was brought to the Fortress of Ends. She heard movement in front of the door and knew the Gaoler who stayed behind to guard her cell was getting panicked. She knew the time was coming, she just had to wait a little longer. She smirked as she started the next line of her song, knowing it unnerved the large beasts that had kept her in this cell for so long.

Like a river flows surely to the sea, Darling,so it goes. Some things are meant to be.

She chuckled lightly as she heard the Gaoler clawing at the door, growling at her to stop the singing or else... She knew they were empty threats, they were not allowed to open the cell, much less enter it. She was too dangerous and unpredictable. Not a second later she heard screaming and her smirk grew wider. He had come. She sat up and her chains rattled. Her frozen paws moved for the first time in a long time as the door slowly opened to reveal a Guardian. “Hello, my love.” he said in his quiet voice, looking at her with his piercing golden eyes. “Took you long enough.” he responded and the Guardian chuckled. Two large, seemingly blind Gaolers followed him into the cell, breaking her chains with swift claws. “So, who are your little friends?” she asked as she stretched her cold limbs and he smirked. “Well, these two helped me escape, didn't you, boys?” he chuckled and Wisdom noticed the missing fur on their body. “They're...” she started as she stared at the creatures. “Yes,” he completed her sentence. “they are undead. I had to kill an entire clan to feed them. That's why I took so long to get you out of here, my love! Now, how about we leave this hell and you end that beautiful song of yours?”.

The two trotted out of the Fortress and into the caverns underneath the Southern Icefields. Their old home. The dark caves hid their presence from other dragons and they knew the caves well enough to escape should a Gaoler try to come after them. Wisdom smiled at her mate as he told her what had changed in the years she'd been locked away and the two cuddled together, back in their own bed. Wisdom whispered the last line of her song before drifting off to sleep.
