Biography
- Very skillful in negotiating taxes, barters and trades and is a good asset to the Witchborne and the Aetheatra clan, headed on by Yminthe and Kievreon.
- Loves making origami (Arabius makes the paper cranes, while Arabi makes the paper flowers)
- Both are very concerned for each side
- Some dragons are frightened, and even intimidated or threatened by them as they are usually quiet, "always talking to themselves". There's even some prejudice, but as Decarabia says, "We're never alone."
______“It’s nothing, Arabius.” A cluck of a tongue. Soothing claws against the backside of their head.
“Let me fuss my dear, you know how I am.” The second voice sounds slightly more masculine than the other, but they are distinctly coming from the same dragon. “This is what you get for being so feisty with Yashiro.” An onlooker not familiar with the dark scaled imperial may have paused, looking at them with a confused face. Some within the clan they settled into still did take a moment to adjust to the dual personalities that resided within the dragon, though they all grew accustomed to not conversing with one but two when in their company. That was the nature of Decarabia, as they were known by together.
Arabi and Arabius were an odd sort at first. While given the blessing to stay within the clan from Yminthe, the pair had searched for a place to settle before coming to the Aetheatra Clan. Though their allowance to stay within the new clan had been just the first step.
It was hard going at first of course, despite the useful skill sets they both brought to the table. Very few were understanding of the split personalities that made up Decarabia, frightened or confused by the way they would converse with each other. Many of the dragons within Aetheatra had been in the same ranks, uncertain and a bit fearful of a dragon that seemingly talked to itself. But they proved themselves useful, with Arabius showing a true sense of justice and charity that was hard to come by. He knew to be sensible and take a more safer approach to things. Arabi on the other hand, was quite the opposite. She would be reckless, leaping before she looked more often than not, leaving herself with a bruise or a gash that had Arabius tsking as he tended to her. Together they made a whole that was deemed acceptable by the members tasked to them before their full admittance within the clan.
The two immediately were given jobs within Aetheatra to work as traders, trusting Arabius’ keen sense and Arabi’s stubbornness to provide the clan with wares worth the items traded. They settled comfortable among the clan members, earning their keep and helping with negotiations along with their trading work. Over time they caught the eye of another dragon, a mirror named Yashiro. He was one of the few within the clan that didn’t immediately seem perplexed by the dragon and their personalities, instead drawn closer to them. Arabi and Arabius became sweet on the other dragon, enjoying his company as he followed them about.
“Please, Yashiro loves it.” There was a snort from the other voice. “You saw how he looked at us this morning.” A teasing tone has Arabi laughing, followed soon by Arabius sighing. He smiles, though, nodding his head.
“Mm, perhaps we can procure him his favorite meats at tomorrow’s trade meeting,” Arabius spoke. The dragon turned from where they sat at the large oaken desk. There they worked on their manifestos for the clan’s trades among other paperwork. The two had worked hard over the past year to obtain their newest occupation; an ambassador for the clan.

I love Decarabia! Not only are they gorgeous, but their lore -- writing and concept alike -- is fascinating! I've always shied away from portraying mental illnesses in my lore due to the potential for making a dire misstep, but Decarabia's dissociative personality disorder is presented in a very intriguing and tactful way. I'm pleased to see that the sides don't have trouble keeping each other in check and that neither is a particular danger to the clan as a whole. While it's true that dissociative personality disorder can cause violence based on which "person" is in charge in that moment, I don't often see many dualities beyond the classic Jekyll and Hyde/passive and destructive type.
Anyway, Decarabia is a lovely dragon. Their accent provides pleasing dashes of gold against a primarily red and black canvas while also enforcing the lore -- little origami figures! The mixing of all those apparel sets is flawless, too. I never actually noticed they were from different sets until I looked a little closer. The color coordination is on point!
