Biography
Ethereal, The 2nd Prince of Summer
Ethereal is the 2nd son of Madock, the King of the Solstice dragons, and a Son of Summer, like his father and older brother. Somehow, his brother has been passed over for a betrothal to Firtwig of Greenfell, a female from an allied clan. How this honor befell Eth, he is not certain. Surely his father and Blossom, as well as Greenfell's leader, would have chosen who they thought best, but how is that him? He is younger than his brother by far; the Spiral maiden as well, though not by much with her.
Could this be a mistake? Eth grows queasy. He may not have met her yet, knows nothing about her-- She could be a complete harpy! --but he was already counting the days until he could meet his future mate.
What will she look like? How will she act? Could I be so lucky that we'd get along? Eth thought. What do I have that Summer doesn't? Oh, dear Gladekeeper: what if she falls in love with Summer before our Mating Day?
Summer is, after all, the best brother Eth could have. The perfect prince. His oldest living brother, Winter-- well, who knows what he's like. He left Fallen Leaves for the Tangled Wood ages ago, before even Summer was born. In any case, only a Prince of Summer would do, thereby discounting Winter Princes Meteor and Starfall from the running. Of course-- a short chuckle --Starfall already has found his mate in Stormbringer, a starry-winged Tundra. He would have refused Madock anyway. Barely a Prince of Winter…
A stifled cough interrupted Eth's reverie in the library. The shuffle of Cenobia's tail and subtle clack of her claws upon the stone floor recedes past Eth's alcove. Eth himself feels hot with embarrassment at nearly being caught thinking horrid thoughts about his brothers. Sky would be disappointed in me. He frowns. Sky said something to him the other day, out of the blue. He snorts. Most of the things Sky says are rather out of the blue. Still it was important, she said… what was it?
