Biography
"Stand tall, Elysia. You're of a pure bloodline." His father scolds him in a deep tone. It's hard to be proud when everyone always has something terrible to say.
"His coloring is atrocious."
"He looks so messy!"
"Those colors.. they're distasteful to the eyes."
Elysia once again ducks his head, avoiding eye-contact and keeping low to the ground. He blocks out the words as he slinks away. He cannot be proud when he is surrounded by those who remind him he is a disappointment. There is nothing about him he can say he likes. He's reserved, quiet, and to everyone else he's an ugly mess.
He thinks of scatterscrolls, but his clan has no available funds for something like that. He ignores the harsh words as he wanders the Abiding Boneyard. He wants to leave this place.
So he does.
He can practically hear his father's raging rant as he traverses north, through Dragonhome. The endless browns and grays defeat his excitement for travelling, reminding him that he stands out like a sore thumb. In the distance, the Behemoth rises high into the sky, branches stretching up and outward proudly, seen from all horizons. Elysia wonders if he would fit in there, in the lush jungles filled with color, much like himself.
There is unbridled life within the Viridian Labyrinth, much unlike his homelands while also being the same. Strong growth flourishes while the weak withers away. He stays among the flowers in the Everbloom Gardens, happy with the bright and odd coloring of the flora that matches him perfectly.
Soon enough, a party of dragons arrives to forage and gather, and they welcome him easily, unaffected by his strange and new appearance as a colorful Gaoler. They invite him to come along with their party, and he agrees. He helps out, shy at first, but warming up to the interesting, jubilant bunch of dragons that are happy to have a new friend. For once, he can say that he is proud, proud of himself for holding his head up, proud that no one here makes any nasty comments on his appearance, no subtle, hurtful joke about the streaks in his mane or across his fur.
There, within a guild of colorful and unique dragons, he finds a home.
