Yngvild is Nevihta personal guardian and friend of a lifetime. You never see one without the other.
The elderly pearlcatcher found Yngvild lost in a snowstorm as a young gaoler, rejected by her clan due to the fact that she never joined any order.
The fluffy gaoler started following Nevihta wherever she went, protecting and hunting for the already old matriarch, at first just for a sense of duty towards the dragon which saved her life, but then she grown fond of her and offered a lifetime friendship and collaboration, especially after Nevihta gave her a name. Yngvild was in fact a nameless gaoler, she didn't find any fitting order to join due to her personality; Yngvild didn't feel the need to protect or guard anything in her life before Nevihta. She thinks that protection must be earned as everything else, and then she found her despise for gaoler orders, imposed without choice or a real reason.

Yngvild is rough as every dragon of her species, she's practical and wise, and she has no problem in telling you exactly what she thinks, even if it offends you. She doesn't respect hierarchies too much, as she lived most of her life just with a friend alone, growing confident of her rank of ancient breed who lived many lifetimes, much more than half of Sornieth's dragons. Anyway she accepted Tempesta's leadership as he offered them shelter after they helped him comprehend one of the mysterious White Claw's secrets with their knowledge. She saw in the Guardian the same practical mind of herself, and a tendency of ignoring hierarchies and allegiances. Tempesta on his behalf, respects the gaoler deeply, for the great knowledge about the Icefield and Sornieth that she represents with Nevhita. For this reason he lets her give orders and advices to his dragons sometimes with the help of Nevihta, in a silent agreement of trust which allows both of them to not question the decisions they take separately. After all, Tempesta is the leader, but Yngvild is old, strong and rough enough to take her decisions. She's one of the very few exception in the strict chain of command that the Guardian wants everyone to follow.
However, even if Yngvild is rough by nature and is more likely to snarl at you instead of smiling at you, she never refuse help to the members of the clan, even if she usually follows Nevihta's orders alone. She's that one dragon who grumble about growing your own fur before thinking of living in the Icefield, but then offers you a spot under her huge, fluffy tail.
Anyway, you'd want to avoid Yngvild when she changes her winter coat. She becomes irascible (more than usual), and prefers to bite or shoo you before asking what do you need from her. Luckily, the wise Nevihta usually warns everyone in the clan when the gaoler changes coat, for the sake of everyone's tail.

So, whenever you decide to ask audience to the old pearlcatcher, watch out for the towering icy eyes and low rumble coming from the dark behind her. You are being watched by two ancient creatures who saw almost everything together on Sornieth, and fear nothing that stands in front of them, knowing that they can count on the most solid friendship and trust between two ancient souls.
