Biography
highland gem guardian
I belong to Jinoga!
Known as Queen Esslem's personal fool, Tristam spends his time as the entertainer for her and whoever she has visiting her kingdom at the time. He often interjects at times where Esslem might be questioned about the ethicality of her laws and practices she has in place. He often tells horrid jokes that normally lack a punchline or poorly delivered puns. It normally doesn't make anyone laugh, but it creates a distraction long enough for Esslem to change the subject comfortably and smoothly.
Secretly acting as the Queen's 'advisor', he likes to think of himself as the puppetmaster with Esslem as his marionette. The Queen herself is often insecure but is soothed by Tristam's kind and supporting words, leading her to enforce the decisions she thinks she's made herself, but were really ideas that Tristam had subtly planted into the Queen's mind. He takes pleasure in watching the kingdom forge into his own vision, as he would always be unable to do it himself due to a lack of a royal bloodline.
When a strange and threatening Wildclaw had approached the kingdom, striking fear into the hearts of their residents, Esslem quickly ordered the Wildclaw to be captured and brought to her for inspection. When Tristam's eyes met those of the cursed Wildclaw, he saw a vision of crumbling kingdoms and growing power for his own. He had to act fast towards Esslem, and quickly convinced her to let the Wildclaw stay in the kingdom and grow as he told her he knew they would make a great addition to their army. Reluctantly but trusting of her fool, she agreed, and the Wildclaw named Tiran became a hidden resident of the kingdom.
With Tiran left on his own, he was able to grow in power. Esslem's kingdom began to grow in fear as more and more disappearances have been reported, which first started when Tiran had shown up to the quaint area. Tristam had a good assumption as to who is causing the disappearances, however, he kept Esslem distracted from the truth by telling her that keeping Tiran would allow them to use him as defense and go after the culprit.
Tristam was initially nervous but confident when he first saw Tiran, but soon he grew to be terrified of the Wildclaw. After witnessing him absorb the soul of a kidnapped resident and lashing out at the Skydancer, he realized the true untameable horror that he kept safe in the kingdom's basement for the longest time. He quickly released him out into the outskirts of the kingdom in hopes he would wander into the forest and become another kingdom's problem, and prayed to every deity that his plan would work.
The fool truly lived up to his title as Tiran had worked himself back into the kingdom's castle and overtook the kingdom's army overnight. Stealing their souls while they slept and using their body as strong but lifeless puppets, Tristam witnessed the true puppetmaster strike down his kingdom with his very own army. Esslem, distressed and confused at the attack, ordered everyone to flee and, without seeing who was causing the attack, fled alongside the kingdom's residents. Happy to still have her trust, Tristam followed his Queen closely and watched as his kingdom fell at the hands of the being the Skydancer tried to use to destroy the other kingdoms and protect his own.
