The hatchling huddled in the corner of Hedetet's workshop whimpered in fear and pain, the early stages of venom overtaking her fragile body. Hedetet's laboratory was in shambles, and notes and ingredients strewn about as evidence of the hatchling's play. A peacock scorpion skittered across the table, its cage spilling sand onto the stone floor to mix with a pile of shattered glass. For just a moment, Hedetet was composed and still as she attempted to process the damage she saw before her. Then she lashed.

"Who let a hatchling into my workshop?" she shouted, her massive paw coming down onto the table with a loud snap as the wood splintered beneath it. The poisoned hatchling jerked in fear, then groaned as the movement send tendrils of pain shooting through his body.

Hedetet's rage bubbled silently after that. The gaoler moved almost robotically as she scooped the frightened scorpion into her arm and placed it into a spare mug. Her ingredients were in shambles, a once meticulously categorized sorting system now unrecognizable. The hatchling's wails were getting louder as the poison took effect.

Heka darted around the corner at the sound of his mate's anger, shock and worriment painted across his face as he surveyed the chaotic scene. The hatchling's wails were getting louder as the poison took effect.

"Find me a vial of serthis blood," Hedetet ordered. Her words came out in a low reptilian hiss, laced with frustration as she attempted to find the supplies for the antidote. Her second comment was quieter, more herself. As she spoke, her words were poised and authoritative, with just a touch of an apologetic tone, "We're running out of time."

Heka did as told. Luckily the vials had managed to go unscathed in the roughhousing, and he handed one over just as Hedetet added the last few herbs to the remedy. She turned the hatchling over and tipped her head back, tilting the beaker so that the bright yellow liquid slid into the young troublemaker's mouth.

As the hatchling's shivers subsided, so too did Hedetet's fury. She bore no resemblance to the dragon who, moments earlier, had split a table in a fit of frustration. Her breaths slowed to a steady rhythm, and her calculating eyes examined the hatchling's puncture wound. "He'll be fine," she muttered.

Later, Heka would chastise the group of children who snuck into the laboratory. To the young hatchling who had been stung, he said teasingly, "You're quite lucky it was the scorpion. Hedetet's sting is much worse."

Hedetet is a rather unimposing dragon, preferring to keep to herself and her scorpions in her laboratory. A massive and colorful display spans the southern wall of her lab, housing all of her beloved scorpions ranging from the odd scorpion fly to the larger hydra and peacock varieties. Hedetet studies them every day. Stacks of notes on their behavior and venom lie about, helping her to better understand how to craft her antidotes.

Hedetet for the most part is a quiet and collected dragon, but it seems that her temper has been influenced by her life's work. Though slow to anger, she is quick to lash out once her limit has been reached. When angry, her otherwise soft-spoken voice becomes booming and loud; paired with personal and vicious insults, it's enough to send any dragon cowering away in fear. Almost nothing angers Hedetet more than ignorant decisions, the kind that often lead to disasters that—had the situation been considered more carefully—are very much preventable.

Her mate Heka does his best to see that the other dragons in the clan do not disrupt Hedetet's temper; after all, he will be the one caring after them should they find themselves on the receiving end of the goddess's wrath. Hedetet enjoys his peaceful and jolly presence in the laboratory, and the two work alongside each other in quiet but comfortable silence. When the scorpion goddess is angered, Heka is the only one able to calm her down--an antidote to her venomous sting.
