Biography
She was only like...12kt.
Garnet had two children. The first was named Baul. She died as a baby, stricken with a terrible disease. Later, Garnet had another child whose father named her Emerus. Emerus wandered off one day and remained lost for a good while. She was later found dead in the Tangled Wood. Both girls had hatched in single-egg nests as well. Garnet fled her children's father, wondering if she, perhaps, was the cause of their misfortune.
Garnet eventually found her way to a castle filled with dragons who were a danger to those around them. Given her odd misfortune, she was admitted to live in the quarantined place. One night, she was tasked with caring for an unfortunate traveler Ferat (another resident) had found. She was terrified of the task, not wanting to accidentally kill the Pearlcatcher with her unluck. Thankfully, he survived along enough under her care to start tending to himself. His name was Travis.
Throughout his stay, the two became very close. She found herself falling in love with Travis...and that terrified her. She couldn't bear the thought of what could have been his peaceful, healthy life being disrupted by her unluck. This fear kept her from letting her heart attach itself too much, even after he was given permission to make the castle his residence.
Then, one night, she thought her unluck had finally caught up to him. His eyes looked so empty...it scared her. He quickly perked up again, though; perhaps he had only been tired.
Oddly, after that, she noticed that others weren't experiencing as much misfortune as they had previously been. She ventured out of quarantine...and over time, it became clear that her curse was gone. And every step of the way, Travis had been at her side. Perhaps he radiated luck which cancelled out her bad luck. That thought elated her, as she finally felt like she had permission to love him fully. Little did she know how correct her assumptions were: he was, indeed, the cause of her changed fate...but not in the way she had thought.
Indeed, their luck had changed. The two were a dedicated pair, and had a clutch of three. All three were girls. The first two were Pearlcatchers like their father, and the third, like her mother, was a Skydancer. They were beautiful and had an abundance of vitality. Garnet was so relieved that she couldn't help but cry. To her, her three precious children were definitive proof that her unluck curse was no more.
