With a total of seven ancestors to her name, with only three genes between them, Jem is low in the hierarchy of wildclaws. She is determined to change this fact, having purchased genes and found a mate of similar physical prowess. She has bonded somewhat with Urgot, but not enough to call him 'mate'. The resulting children were undesirable in looks and mediocre in personality, so she never really took to them.

After countless excursions into hostile territory in search of supplies, Jem has developed a grudging respect for Aurea. This does not stop her from taking every opportunity to get to their objectives first.
