whimsy's whimsical writings
written by plantmom It was a beautiful day outside. The sun kissed your scales a thousand times over as the wind whispered twice as many songs in your ears. You inhaled deeply, drawing in the strong scent of the bamboo forests and rich earth below. Crossing the Zephyr Steppes is always pleasant for the senses, if not a slightly haphazardous flight due to the ample amount of kites and other flying devices sharing the sky. A glint caught your eye, and when you flinched, you heard a voice cry out. "Come on down to Whimsy's! Whimsy's got all your whimsical writing needs! Come, visit Whimsy's!" Intrigued, you glanced downward to the source of the flashing, noticing a younger dragon holding a mirror towards the sky. The clever little bugger, you realized, he flashed the light in my eyes on purpose. Unable to go on without quenching your curiosity, you curled your wings and smoothly dove toward the eager, mirror-bearing dragon, landing on the lip of a miniature plateau. "Hey there, friend!" Exclaimed the Skydancer cheekily, stashing his mirror in a hidden pocket of his vibrant, red breeches. Relieved of their duties, his front paws sank to the ground, where they soon carried him to the border of your personal space. This dragon meant business, and he knew exactly how to get it. Before you could so much as open your maw to respond, the Skydancer continued. "My name is Whimsy, and I've opened a business! Would you like to hear about it?" You shrug your indifference. Unbothered, Whimsy cleared his throat and began a well-rehearsed sales pitch. "Here at Whimsy's Whimsical Writings, I can fulfill all your wildest dreams in the form of prose! I've carefully curated my practice over the years, and like a fine cheese it grows more tasteful with every re-read! So, please, feel free to take a "bite" and spend some coin on a few words... or a thousand." Whimsy winked cleverly, then rose on his hind paws in order to gesture towards a crudely thatched bamboo table, adorned with an ivory inkwell, splotches of black and blue ink, and a thick stack of blank paper on two of the corners, each held down by small lumps of jade. You suddenly realize that, yes, you've always wanted to tell your life story. Why do it yourself when this guy's offering? Plus, you still haven't figured out the difference between effect and affect quite yet... |
