Biography
Also known as The Mystery Merchant around Nightmire, Wrynn’s origins are practically unknown. Suddenly appearing in town one afternoon, Wrynn didn’t waste much time setting up shop and selling his wares to the townsfolk. At first glance, his stock is nothing special- however take the time to look a little closer and oddities become more apparent. The kettle in that tea set that seemed mundane and rather drab has been spitting smoke on its own at completely random, and one of the teacups just tried to jump up and bite someone. Once and a while, one of the cooking pots will be enchanted and spit fire at any dragon unlucky enough to lift the lid. Not to mention, a few of the drawings in the storybooks he sells seem a little more… lively than they should be. However, bring any of this up to him and he insists there’s nothing odd at all, Just a little Starfall Isles flair! Questioning patrons are only answered with more questions, and topics are circled around at the drop of a hat, and before any dragon knows it, Wrynn is gone, the travelling sales dragon having moved on to do business in another town in Sorineth. |
Despite his less than transparent business practices and unknown origins, Wrynn has never really done anything to harm any of the town’s inhabitants (though a few of his less traditional items have caused trouble once or twice) and his small pop up stand attracts many visitors whenever he comes into town. His stand in fact is how he met and eventually became close friends with Kitkat, the resident playwright of the town, and her mate, Fleur. Kitkat was taken by the tales of Wrynn’s adventures, missing her own days traveling Sorineth in her youth. Fleur became enamored with the curiosity of his shop and the quiet and gentle dragon he hid behind his persona of magic and mystique. Despite Wrynn acting shy of the two at first, it was readily apparent that his visits to the town became more frequent and his stays longer once they became friends. One thing lead to another as months wore on, and organically, he became a partner in their relationship as well. It was when hatchlings were introduced, where Wrynn became scarce again. While he had no dislike for young dragons at heart, the worry of prejudice and the potential reactions of others towards the hatchlings drove the merchant to distance himself. The last thing he wanted to see was harm emotional or physical come to his newfound family simply because the setup of their home was not nuclear. While he has once again become a rarer sight in Nightmire, the pearlcatcher is still sometimes spotted in the theater watching performances of Kitkat, and even some of the hatchlings with wistful eyes. Hoping one day for the courage to finally return to the home he has been avoiding and introduce himself into their lives. |
