Biography

Forestleaf's avatar
As the pack strived through the Abiding Boneyard they found another abandened egg. It wasn't a rare sight here, because many dragons couldn't survive in this enviroment leaving hatchlings and eggs alike alone. The packleader approached it, sniffed and nooded. "We are staying here for awhile". When the leader layed down, another dragon approached and gave her some other eggs. Those were found in the last months, but the pack never had the time to hatch them. "Are you sure we can raise that many hatchlings, Blood?" He shuddered, as her cold gaze rested upon him. "We will only feed those who are born strong."

Forestleaf was born among 5 other hatchlings. But her nest was kinda special. It was rare to find a Fae egg in the Boneyard, but it was also rare to find a Mirror as big as Forestleaf was. The first dragon she saw was her Nestbrother Navystorm. Over the years they would grow really close. She would be the next packleader if Blood was gone. Out of her Nest she would have been the only one to survive, if she hadn't cuddled with him from her first moments on. Blood, who wanted Forestleaf to lead the pack by her side, as she was a quite big for a mirror, couldn't abandon Navystorm if she wanted Forestleaf to obey. So she let them both alive and as they left to roam on Forestleaf and Navystorm would be named. But they didn't always were called so. When they received their names they were "Leaf" and "Whiff".

Under the wings of Blood Leaf became a skilled Hunter. Soon she would command respect in her pack and was the right hand of her Fostermother. But Blood wasn't a caring mother. Instead she would punish Leaf harshly if she did any wrong and Leaf would get many many scars from that treatment. Her only glimpse of hope was Whiff who would always stay by her side. He wasn't as weak as Blood thought him to be. He was indeed smaller than other Faes, but he was an excellent Flyer and a fierce attacker. If he locked his sight on a target he would get it. No. Matter. What.

The Pack they lived in wasn't a peacefull one. They would attack other Clans' territories and merciless kill. And Leaf did her part. No other Dragon was feared more than her, no other dragon as stained in blood as her. This and her absolute loyalty to Blood would earn her a nickname that still makes enemies who faced her and escaped alive tremble. "Blood's Leaf".

After a hard winter it became really hard for the pack. There wasn't many prey and even the caught ones weren't satisfying. Blood cared for the pack. Not as a family but as an efficient community. To save her pack she had to make a decision. To save her pack she would leave the weakest ones behind. She would send them to the allmighty Plaguemother who would care for them. Not that it mattered to her, but still, as a packleader she had a duty to fulfill and care for those who served her well. Unfortunately Whiff was one of them. In her eyes he still was an anomaly and didnt belong in a mirror pack. He was small and fragile and it has bothered her a long time that Leaf was so attached to him when Blood should be the most important Dragon in Leafs life. The night before Whiff should leave he and Leaf escaped. Not only didn't she want to part with Whiff, but she also grew sick of have to obey. She finally wanted her own freedom so this was the last straw that broke the dragons back.

Blood was furious when she woke up in the morning realizing Leaf was gone. She couldn't tolereate any disobedience, especially not from Leaf, who should be her bravest underling, She had to make an example of Leaf. Not only to show her strenght to the pack but also to prove herself that she hadn't become soft.

The only place the both of them could run to was the Viridian Labyrinth. It wasn't the region the furthest away, but the only region they would ne safe. Sure, they were afraid of Blood and the pack, still there was an enemy far more dangerous than her. Whiff was promised to the Plaguebringer and if Blood asked the Plaguebringer they would be in huge trouble.

They had traveled several days through the Tangled Wood and every now and then they had to fight off Mirrors of their old pack. Despite this all Leaf never allowed Whiff once to fight. Not because she didn't trust his skills, however she knew that Blood wanted to finish her off on her own while Whiff was to be killed. It took a load from their mind as they finally reached the borders to the nature flight when Leaf heard a voice she feared. A voice that meant harm to her and the voice belonging to the dragon she looked up to her whole life. "Do you really think I would let you escape?"

The fight didnt last long. Leaf was already exhausted from the previous fight but she never stood a chance against Blood. Not only was she stronger but she also had more experience and was the one to taught Leaf. Every move and every thought of Leaf, Blood knew them all. Before Blood could deliver the fina blow Whiff intervened. He fought with everything he got, from dusk till dawn, but he didn't stood a chance too. Before the sun rose he layed next to Leaf, unable to move and waiting for the end to come.

A bit hestitant Blood drew closer to Leaf. The older Dragon didn't know what kind of pain she felt, as it screamed awkwardly inside her chest. Never before did she feel such a thing when she raised her arm ready to bring it all to an end. "Why... You... Farewell, Leaf" It was then when a powerful voice rang from the forest.
"Stop there Plagueling. You stand in the nature flight's territory. These Seedlings are not be yours anymore."

The feeling of huge relief was the only thing Blood felt, when she heard the voice. She couldn't explain it but she was actually happy that someone intervened. Bent over Leaf she carefully gave her a lick, the first time she would ever show affection towards her fosterdaughter. A last time she breathed in the smell she get used to so much. As the sun touched Leaf and Whiff their bodies began to change. The tattered wings of Leaf, that blood ripped apart during their fight grew back. While the upperside was a thin layer of wood, making it sturdier than before, the other side was the healed flying membrane shining in Leafs beautifull green. Instead of wounds there was now solid wood that was flexible and felt like it was alive. "Take good care of yourself, Blood's Leaf she whispered when she turned back to go home.

"No. Not Blood's Leaf. From now on I am Forestleaf"

"Hey Whiff, let's start our own pack... Clan.. And this time our word will be law. A clan to help the outcasts to find a place. Never shall one be turned down who seeks this Clan's protection"

Even though she is free now she can't deny her past. She stored away her old apparel in the vault. Hoping that she will never be forced to wear her battle armor again she is prepared to go to war for her clan. Instead she likes to wear the remains of her prey now
