thoughts:

-yes, the wiretangle walk exists (which provides electricity to places in shifting expanse), but what about other infrastructure? like, efficient transport between factories, sewer systems, fresh water systems, more electricity? underground keeps it safe(r) from attacks from beastclan, more regulations are possible, and dont have to worry as much about logistics or transporting it above ground

-since the currents are spread throughout the shifting expanse, it's impossible to monitor all of the tunnels constantly. instead, it's just workers sent for maintenance to fix broken pipes/wires/tunnels, and basic checks on goods being transported through the currents. sometimes its automated the checks with golems, same with who/what is transporting goods

-in general, the currents are mostly connected around the Source, the Charged Barrens, the Lightning Farm, and the Tempest Spire, but there are some smaller branches that stretch out for further expansions plans/factories a bit further away
