From the moment of her hatching, Hystial was a dragon of few words; she rarely cried and was apt to speak through her actions, even when pestered to socialize by adults and fellow dragonets alike. Her solitude-seeking nature invited her peers to think nothing of her, but this wasn't anything she was concerned about. All of her focus as a child went towards learning, however she couldn't be described as being passionate about knowledge. When the Guardian was no longer a hatchling, she had no motivation to find her Charge and no real reason to help out her clan, so she cut ties with them and became clanless. She decided to put her figure to good use by learning the art of battle, but she didn't particularly have an enjoyment for it either. Hystial lived an apathetic life for many years, doing nothing but polishing her fighting style until she had nothing left to polish. She moved on and began working odd jobs in the Windswept Plateau, but eventually grew tired of the area and wandered elsewhere. The dragoness experienced many incredible, story-worthy moments over the course of her travels, but with no dragon to tell them to, all they did was collect dust in the corners of her mind. That was ok with her. That was fine.

Whenever she wasn't eating or sleeping, Hystial would roam across Sornieth, finding employment from whoever offered it. No dragon stuck out much in her mind, and she stuck out in no other dragons' minds. This all changed on one fateful morning, when Hystial took a monster-hunting job in the Zephyr Steppes and set off along a rather unpopulated road. While trudging along under an annoyingly bright sky, she ended up meeting an annoyingly loquacious Fae named Kiran. Seeing as they both were aligned with Wind and were walking along the same path, Kiran decided they should become fast friends- the brown-scaled drake would chatter incessantly and Hystial would ignore him for the most part. At some point, however, she ended up listening to him quite contentedly. The Guardian had suspicions that the creature she was tracking might come across Kiran in the middle of the night, and seeing as he was quite the diminutive dragon, she couldn't help but be concerned for his wellbeing. After sharing her worries with her walking buddy, the two of them decided to set up camp together. The odd and charismatic drake somehow managed to get Hystial talking, and after chatting with him late into the night, sharing all of her untold stories of adventure and battle, the stoic Guardian realized something rather world-shattering: Kiran, the tiny and talkative Fae, was her charge.

Lone wolf mercenary or not, Hystial wasn't one to keep her revelation to herself. the very next morning, she informed Kiran, who received the news quite well and decided to stick with her. After defeating the prey she had been hired to hunt, the dragoness and her precious Charge journeyed back along the road in order to wrap up the job. Hystial's employer was understandably quite shocked when the emotionless mercenary he had hired showed up with a grin on her face and an unusually expressive Fae perched on her head. After collecting the reward, she officially cut ties with her previous way of living. From that moment onwards, Hystial was freed from her past nature. The Guardian was happy to join Kiran on his quest to form a clan, this time vowing to care for the others instead of ignoring them like she had ignored the dragons in her past. Her life's truest calling had become her closest friend and the love of her life. Charge or not, Kiran and all the dragons of the clan are extremely important to her.
