Hive isn't actually a dragon at all. She is the last of a rare form of shape-shifting snake. Once her kind conquered worlds, invading them and replacing the native life forms until only they remained, but they attacked the wrong world and were all but eradicated.

- None of her "magical abilities" are actually magical. Most are evolutionary adaptations or usage of advanced alien technology
- Hive's eyes are specially evolved so that most forms of illusions/magic are ineffective at tricking her. Additionally, her eyes are compound (like an insect's) making them ultra-sensitive to movement and thus she has seemingly miraculous reflexes.
- Hive being able to snuff out lies is, once again, simply biology. Her keen senses are able to pick up changes in heartbeat, the scent of fear and unintentional body language. So, unless a dragon is well trained in lying, she is typically able to rat them out.
- Hive has no concept of gender, her race is all-female and reproduces asexually. Due to this, most dragons use she/her pronouns to refer to her but she genuinely doesn't care nor understand gender/pronouns. Tsunami has attempted explaining the construct to her, but since gender isn't determined by aesthetics, genitals, behavior or any distinct physical characteristic, hive continues to be confused by it.
