The crocotta are lower wolf demons. They are unable to communicate in the common tongue but are very intelligent. They have black, grey or brown, short fur, a stiff back and a strong jaw. Their three eyes are gemstones that shine even with only little light.
Young crocotta are neither female nor male when they are born; they are becoming females or males depending on which kind is less common in their area.
Due to the demon hunters crocotta have nearly become extinct.

The crocotta are living alone or in small packs with up to five specimen.
They are constantly searching for food and prefer to hunt humans or dogs. Their appetite holds them in the human world instead of the demon world as they are unable to find human prey among the demons.
Most crocotta packs dig up corpses or hunt stray dogs, but they also pursue humans that are going on walks alone . They prefer to hunt at night as they are no fast runners. However, they are able to imitate voices they heard. They may call out names of humans they stalk or call for a dog in the voice of it's owner and wait until their curious prey approaches. There are also crocotta that jump in front of cars to stop them and kill all humans inside. They have very sturdy bodies and bones and survive even car crashes nearly unharmed.

When Liza visited her penpal, they were attacked by crocotta with this method. Ely was chasing the pack down but was only able to save the fatally wounded Liza by turning her into a vampire.
