Cold is piercingly painful at first, but as it progresses, it wraps around you with its icy tendrils, slowly transforming into a warm blanket, comforting you as you face a freezing death. And as the tiny newly hatched spiral sat in the cold, alone, the cold became his only comfort.

"It's so cold!" Complained Adrienne, sheilding herself from the icy wind with her wings. "Well maybe you should have worn something warm!" Basil snapped back. Adrienne gave the fae a dirty look "I needed to look fashionable!"
Basil sighed, "No one is here to oggle at you, Adri. Lets just get what we needed and get back to the Sunbeam ruins...where its warm"
The two trecked further into the Southern Icefield, the icy grip of the cold making them slow as they filtered through the snow.
Adri tried to take another slow step forward, but then, "Oufh!" she tripped forward right into the snow.
Basil flew over, "Are you alright, Adri! Adri!" Adri stayed sprawled out in the snow for a second, before looking up and shaking the snow off her head. "What was that!?"
Basil gave her a confused look, "What was what? There is nothing her but snow!" She said, shaking off the snow gathering on her wings.
Adrienne gave her a smile "Aww, you look so funny when youre angry...youre so tiny!"
"Shut up!" Basil grumbled. "Answer my question."
Adrienne slowly sat up, "I tripped over something! It was smooth and...cold"
"A rock? Sounds like a rock."
Adrienne shook her head, "No. Not a rock. The snow here probably goes down for miles." Basil knew she was right, and grumbled in response. Adrienne leapt over to the spot of the trip. She dug through the snow, ignoring the cold.
Basil fluttered over, "What is it!" Adrienne finally found the object, and lifted it up to find a blue, ice looking sphere.
"It's an egg!" Shouted Adrienne, "But, its already hatched!"
She dropped the egg shell in front of Basil, who peered at it, "Its freshly hatched" She said, astonished. She looked up at the wildclaw, "Do you know what that means?"
Adri nodded, "Theres a hatchling here!" The two frantically began looking, and digging, trying to find the hatchling. And after what seemed like eternity, Adrienne dug up a tiny purple spiral, unmoving.
She brough him over to Basil, "is it alive?"
Basil shook her head, "No, not with this cold, we can at least give it a proper burial and-" before she could finish, she spiral stretched out, the two gasped.
"Its alive!" Exclaimed Adri.
The Spiral spread out and yawned, and opened two huge, snowy, icy eyes. The spiral had embraced the freezing cold, the dragon and the cold had become one.
