Names all hold meaning; some weighing heavier on the shoulders than others but all names are a burden, all including the name Slate.

Slate had never had a problem with himself. He was a happy hatchling who wasn't afraid of anything in his little world. Who knew, as soon as his family had moved lairs and as soon as he met other hatchlings his age, that he would stand out like a sore thumb. He was isolated. He was afraid and he was in pain. They would rake their claws across his hide to test the strength of his scales. They would bite, scratch and throw things at him; all for what?

All to test out if his name rang true and was he truly soft and weak. Slate could be moulded to any shape or form, it is a flexible material with many different uses. Was he truly what his name meant?

He could not bare it any longer. He fought back. He tore down his walls and no matter how terrified he felt at that moment, he took down his bullies one by one. Hitting harder, faster, as long as he could still stand up, he didn't give up. He was Slate, he is truly flexible and mould-able, but that did not make him weak. It meant that he could overcome any problem thrown his way through flexibility and strength.
