Biography
Mavenlark is home to many strange beings, but none is as strange as Lotuscript, the living book. Her body is comprised of manuscript paper and scraps, all bound together by the haphazard magic that holds the Arcanist's realm together - and possibly the spirits of a few deceased authors that once called Mavenlark their home, though that's mostly just a rumor. Probably. She works attending Mavenlark's library, Sul'Ark ("On the Ship" in dragon's tongue) alongside the flesh-and-blood Verona. The two do what normal librarians do; re-shelve books, assist in research, wrangle the living books that get bored and start wandering about the aisles (which Lotuscript tends to be better at, given that she can communicate with them). But Lotuscript does have one special job. Upon request, she can unravel her body into an orderly scroll, which is composed entirely of the complete history of Clan Mavenlark. Very few have read the entire thing - can you?
Currently, she's chosen to take the form of a snapper, though she theoretically can imitate any dragon or object she chooses. She sleeps in a massive book-binding at night.

During a recent upheaval in Clan Mavenlark, the history was unfortunately lost. The living scroll was discovered by Jubilee, clan librarion of Aquaurora. The scroll was a bit waterlogged, but Jubilee's attempts at cleaning her up have proved futile. Lotuscript seems to like her new adornments.

Clan Mavenlark
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carved within a massive crystal spire thanks to the magical prosperity of the Crystalspine Reaches, and overlooking the beginning of the Scarred Wasteland, Clan Mavenlark is a tradescity city made up of two distinct sections: The Outer Lair and the Inner Lair. The Outer Lair is comprised of thousands of dens hanging over, inside, and around the "outer" walls of the crystal spire. These are given to Mavenlark's visitors to stay in for no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. These dens are designed to home dragons of all species, though due to constant overcrowding, many find themselves sleeping inside the same dens as other dragons, forming makeshift hostels. The Outer Lair acts both as a refugee camp and a stop on the Sornieth merchant route. Dragons who are forced to flee wars, escape natural disasters, or face any other displacements can come to Mavenlark for a temporary stay and free food. The same kindness is extended to merchants, and frankly, anyone who seeks it. The generosity is two-fold. Not only does it allow those in need a guaranteed place to stay and three square meals a day, but it also brings economic prosperity to the city by beckoning service workers, merchants, and the like. The "Inner Lair" is located at the center of the spire, surrounded above by the nests and travelers of the Outer Lair. Covered by a sheet of magic that prevents trespassers from entering after-hours, the Inner Lair looks like a large swirl from above set into the ground. Indeed, it is made of the same hard crystal as the spire itself, chiseled out by claw hundreds of years prior when the spire was first hollowed. The open spaces in the "swirl" contain Mavenlark's permanent residents. Most of these dragons are highly trained artisans whose skill at their respective crafts earned them a spot within the inner city, which must be applied to in order to live within. Some came as merchants selling their wares and were convinced to stay after residents saw their work, while others specifically traveled to Mavenlark in order to apply for permanent residency. The children and mates of these artisans are automatically granted Inner Lair citizenship as well, allowing them to enter and exit the Inner Lair at will. The Inner Lair contains the shops, nests, lairs, and hoards of the permanent residents.
