He is duplicitous.

He acts kind-- for a rich Lord, anyways. It's not like he actually understands the plight of those he deems his lessers. And, well... he considers most other dragons his lessers.

N'Pharius doesn't let on about these feelings of superiority. He also doesn't let others know about his true name; while very traditional for the clan he originally came from, with names like EXAMPLE and EXAMPLE, his is really on the nose, and he doesn't want others to think of him in the wrong light.

Especially since he's not rich anymore. He could go the humble route, but he just can't bear it. N'Pharius is a lord, for Icewarden's sake! But he needs their money. Pharius doesn't know when he'll get a chance to raid their hoard, but he hopes it'll be soon. He can't keep up this charade of kindliness for too much longer.
