Alusair was simply unlucky, wrong place, wrong time. The youngest of her three nest-mates, she wandered away from home. A lovely voice calling her closer, dancing green fireflies luring her just a little further from safety...
Then they took her.
The black creatures with hides made of chitin took her.
They fled as fast as they could when she screamed in terror. Quickly silencing her however they could manage so they could escape alive. Not knowing if the clan they stole her from would give chase.
They fled from plague lands deep into shadow territory, where the hive the creatures lived in hid deep in the shadows.
She met the consciousness when it came to oversee her assimilation. Though it wasn't the one to perform it.
Somehow, its presence was soothing, even through the pain.
The pain and its strange soothing presence were among the last of her memories as a dragon.
"I'm so, so sorry, little one... It will be over soon... Soon you will have nothing to worry about..."

I was seriously disappointed to hear about Alusair's allegiance change from Shift. Having spoken to her directly when the clan moved, she seemed really nice and like she actually didn't want to be hugely with the hivemind.
Shift says something must have messed with some of her mental settings after we parted ways.
Now I half wish someone was able to keep an eye on her hive's activities. As it is we don't know what she's up to these days with the distance between us. She's nearly on the other side of the flight's territory from us now!
Still curious though... if Alusair does attack Shift, or the clan. How will Shift react? Like she might any other threat? I remember what Gloomwing said about witnessing Alusair's assimilation. Clearly Shift wasn't expecting the outcome (another unexpected consciousness?)

While our stolen hijacker could spy inside its hive with some consistency when we first found it. We were able to determine its hive's rough strength. While there are others that rival it, it isn't 'weak' by any means. Though at that time it was more aligned with dragonkind.
We're pretty sure they re-assimilated to modify themselves to overcome our hijacker. We're still not sure if the re-assimilation went as planned or not. Not completely is the general consensus. The water flight having a festival may have done something unexpected also.
Now it is stronger than our hijacker, bigger, and capable of some magic. Past these things we don't know what it's capable of now. We fled the area shortly after.
