Biography

Joyful|Affectionate|Social|Punny

This lady, for how could one call her anything but when she carries herself so regally, is a joyous sight to behold. When she is not rounding up the hatchlings to go on educational outings she is sorting and organizing the clans stores of food and materiels for crafters. She is especially fond of the pilfered silks and fabrics the hunters of Beastclans bring back to the lair. Something about the way they run along her scales makes her mane and tail puff up with contentment. She can often be seen among the clan at social gatherings, hands and wings flying and twitching as she signs empathetically to her friends. When Am was born it was very clear that she was deaf, and her mother quickly drew together the Council and devised a sort of, Sign Language for her. It uses body posture, wings, tail and hand motions. Half charades half hand signs the rest of the clan did their best to pick up on it. Even for her lack of vocalizations she still makes puns bad enough to make her clanmates groan. She, on the otherpaw, like most punmasters, revels in it.

She is fond of letting others vent to her, for one who cannot hear she is a very good listener. While she is serving as a living jungle gym for any boisterous or adventurous hatchlings she is more than happy to watch a clanmates troubles mimed out to her, offering tea if they like.

She sits, uncomfortably, before the sly eyed seer, her ears pinned against her head. She couldn't hear, but, this onefelt off, strange, like, like, she was out of place in this existance. The air around her seemed to, blur? At her edges? And, what was that charm around her neck that seemed to be giving off its own heartbeat? The Bogsneak opened her mouth to speak and out flowed, water? What in Glademothers Beard? Was she, why was she speaking, did she know that Ama was deaf? The Imperial was slightly annoyed, until she saw what was happening at the Bogsneaks feet. It chubby paws were cupped, catching the water and as it pooled it coalesced into, a gem? As she watched cracks skittered across it, a line with smaller lines, and then she was being handed the watergem?

Reaching out hesitantly she took it, and she knew. She would be prosperous, she would find love and bear many eggs for the clan. Happiness would sing a song even the deaf could hear and it would echo in the heart of another. The seahued Imperial looked up to make mimes at the Bogsneak, but she seeded to lay dormant. Unwilling to press her for further details she clutched the gem to her chest and excused herself.

Of Huxley:

She was out with a gaggle of hatchlings, controlling them was like herding Riverflights, when she heard the sound of sloshing water. Snapping her jaws shut, making the small, muted trumpets she could she bid all the hatchlings come close and hide beneath her. All of her fur was on end, ready to battle for the youngsters. But that wasn't to come. The charm, the blue gem the Seer had given her, seemed to glow, and a light answered it. Craning her head up, another dragon appeared from the underbrush. He was tall, with a shortish tail, it had been abbreviated!, and a stern face. Holding a gem in his claws he looked down to it, then to hers, and canted his head.

One of the older hatchlings explained Ama was deaf, and signed his words to her. He was on a Geas, given to him by a stone he woke up holding, and would very much like to dry his fur if that was ok with her. She rounded up the children and took him back, where she introduced him to The Council and they eventually accepted him. The stone, some outside magic, brought him here.

She watched him from afar, but longed to be closer to him, feeling a heartbeat not her own when in range of him. One day, she discovered him fishing, as he seemed to like to do, and made halting progress teaching him the way to Sign. He requested more of these classes, and soon their hearts grew fond. They were mated officially under an old gnarled maple near that fishing spot, and can not be seen more than a few yards from the other.
