Shadow Goddess


Queen of Shadow. Master Sorcerer.
Octarine, from birth, had always been very attuned to her element. In time, she practiced the art of Shadow magic and became a powerful sorcerer. Some say she has ascended into godhood, become a conduit for sheer Shadow energy. And it is true, during the high holy days of the Shadowbinder, Octarine's skin turns slick and scaly with Shadow spirits, whispering to her. No one is sure how to explain this except that she is one of the Shadowbinder's chosen disciples on Sornieth.

The Sight

Then it happened one day. The eyes began to appear. The different sights. No one was sure what this would mean, good or bad omen, only that the wave seemed unpredictable and random. The chaos and unknown stirred even Maia into concern. Not knowing what the sights would do and having no ready way to predict their appearance left everyone with a sense of unease. But, with all that misgiving, it was to no one's real surprise that Octarine was the first to be taken. Her sight happened that day, the day the eyes came. She was in her temple, contemplating the truths of Shadow and balancing her energies, when she was struck with dizziness and squinted her eyes against the vertigo. When she opened them, they were no longer the deep purple of her people, but a new, shiny tint, unknown to all her clan and unseen in her birth home in the Tangled Wood from many years ago. It was something entirely new. And still, good or ill, remained to be seen.
