xxx Soft flecked feathers shift as the coatl observes the customer's ores. Gently, claws tap the rock in front of them, and he reaches a conclusion. "It's a good ore," he starts, "But nothing amazing. It'll still work for the usual stuff, and I know someone who might like it... Hold on," And another coatl-- Blue like the ocean, feathers a ruffled as though they haven't been preened that day-- is waved over. With Splatterdry as a mediator, the two come to a conclusion; the customer would leave with money in their pocket, the mechanic has more to work with.
Though his ancestors were metalworkers, good at using the materials they had, it wasn't a skill he inherited. Rather, he was gifted with the ability to tell good ores from bad at a glance, figure out their properties with minimal tampering. He could focus his senses and become aware of every sound, every feeling-- How ores feel against his claws, how gems catch the light, and he knew what these affected, what it all meant.

He looks at the sacridite on his table, and wonders if his parents would be proud.
