“Belladonna?” said the attendant nervously. “Yes, yes, the young prophetess!” said the pearlcatcher eagerly. “Is she in?” “Ah, well-” the attendant began. “Please, I’ve traveled so far! I only need a minute of her time!” the pearlcatcher pleaded. “Yes, but-” the attendant started again. “I’m not waiting another second!” burst out a snapper. “She’s only the greatest prophetess that this age has ever seen! I didn’t come all this way for nothing!” He shoved his way forward. “Let us in, or we’ll let ourselves in!” The attendant glanced at the door behind her nervously. “But you see-” “That’s it!” shouted the snapper, “We’re going in!” The crowd shoved forward, thrusting the door open with such force that it almost flew off of its hinges. The dragons crowded in and fell silent, staring at the dragon inside the room in shock. The attendant trailed in after them. “What I meant to say was that Belladonna was sleeping…” She was indeed sleeping, and sleeping so soundly that even the noise of the forceful entry into her room did not wake her. She was half dangling off of her bed, her mouth open. “Maybe she’s having a vision?” suggested a young wildclaw in the back of the room doubtfully. A soft snore came from the direction of the bed. “Miss Belladonna?” said the attendant. There was no response. “Miss Belladonna?” said the attendant again, louder this time. Belladonna opened one eye and glanced blearily at the attendant. “Yes?” “You have company miss.” Belladonna opened both eyes and rolled over. “Oh. Hello.” “Hello!” squeaked the young wildclaw. If the other dragons in the room were hoping for more than this, they were sorely disappointed. Belladonna stared at them for a moment before closing her eyes again and burying herself among the cushions on her bed. “Miss Belladonna?” said the attendant. “Tell them to leave.” said Belladonna, her voice muffled by the pillows. “Visiting hours are between ten and two.” “It’s noon miss.” said the attendant gently. “LEAVE.” The dragons shuffled out of the room, exchanging befuddled glances with each other. “Is she… Is she always like that?” said the pearlcatcher.
