HISTORY Voices. Constant. whispering. SCREAMING!! A young Pearlcatcher cursed from the day they were conceived and, most likely, doomed to be so after death. On the hatch day of the strange eyed child, as all Pearlcatchers do, he and his siblings consumed their shells to create their pearls. His parents watched with pride. The oldest sister that took after their mother made a pearl that shimmered and seemed to glow with light, the younger sister's pearl glistened as if formed from the finest crystals. His pearl? It never came to be. All he regurgitated were a few remains of shell and overly liquified goop that was almost no different from drool. Concern washed over his parents faces, instinct told him something was wrong but, being just a few hours old hatchling, he couldn't begin to understand. Regardless of this flaw and the very traditional beliefs of their breed, his parents raised him with the same love and care they showed his sisters but, all began to notice his bizarre tendencies and disturbing powers as he grew. He would talk to himself, jump at shadows, and whisper nonsense. The glow of his strange eyes became more intense, showing only a small fraction of the power connected to his very soul. Eventually, he found himself with more whispering in fear and uncertainty about his strangeness. All seemed to drift away. The clan oracles and master mages tried to help curb and teach him to control his powers to no avail, ever step forward resulted in two steps back. It was as if his powers were not his alone, like they had a mind of their own or belonged to an outside source. The older he got, the worse it got. Rumor was that he had been Shade touched. He began to lose sleep, explaining that "They" scarcely cease to speak. He slowly withdrew despite the loving support of the clan, claiming he was afraid to hurt someone. He rambled about the dead and the things that haunted the strange ruins in the bowls of the lair, how there was something more below and the spirits begged to be released. In vitae egestas diam.
