Coming from a royal line of dragons, Zuko was expected to serve under the reigning God of his element, the Flamecaller, like his parents did with theirs. However, the pressure to fight was too much for him, so he ran away from the Ashfalls and went west to wherever the land might take him.

He prefers not to mention his past or his parents.
