Representative of clouds and the open sky. ☁️
Polynya is the long-lived founder and honored leader of the Sky Tower Clan. Originally an abandoned hatchling on the outskirts of the Shifting Expanse, Polynya was found and taken in by a nomadic clan of water guardians traveling through the area. Though she was a lightning dragon, the clan raised her as their own, becoming a close-knit family. Polynya lived happily and worked hard to support her clan, until they were one day ambushed by a large group of Shade-influenced monsters off of the Southern Icefield. Overwhelmed by the attack, Polynya fled to find help; however, the nearby dragons, distrusting of outsiders, refused to give aid. By the time she returned, her clan was wiped out and the monsters had vanished. Heartbroken, Polynya vowed to avenge her family and began to travel Sornieth in search of the attackers. After many moons of training and searching, Polynya successfully tracked down and slew her targets. Despite fulfilling her promise, the guardian felt dismayed by the suspicion and conflict she continually witnessed throughout her journey between the continent’s residents; it all felt too similar to what had occurred at the icefield. Polynya became convinced that if dragonkind could unite to stop the Shade, others would not have to suffer as she did. Returning to the Shifting Expanse, she decided to dedicate the rest of her life to uniting the eleven flights no matter the cost, and finally destroy the Shade together. Now living within Sky Tower, Polynya is a respected leader who invites lost dragons to live under her protection. With Toby, she assists in sending missionaries to outside clans to foster relations between the flights and spread word of her goals. Though she greets others with kindness and patience, Polynya is firm in her beliefs, and will not hesitate to eliminate those who threaten her new clan.
