Gemstone Magic Always get to know your stones before using them in magic. This is called 'attuning' and means you are working with the properties in the stone and can utilise their powers to their fullest extent. Meditate on ten stones at most to begin with. Allowing however much time you need for each stone. I can't give you a 'time' because that will vary from day to day and from stone to stone. Work with each stone individually. 'See' each stone and 'know' it thoroughly before you move on to the next. To start always cleanse your stone by one of the methods given, then find a quiet spot where you won't be disturbed. Sit down in front of your stone, this could be on the ground, on a chair or sofa, as long as you are comfortable how/where you're sitting is not important, but you need to be able to sit without fidgeting so you can give all your attention to the stone. The stone should be within reach.. Close your eyes and listen to your breathing, still your conscious mind and breathe deeply and evenly. Feel the rhythmic flow of breath in and out. With your eyes still closed hold out your receptive hand (right hand for lefties - left hand for right handers), and keeping it a few inches above the surface your stone is resting on move it slowly back and forth. Concentrate your awareness in the centre of your palm. you are looking for the stone. Dont TRY to feel the stone, just allow yourself to do so. The energy may make itself known as a clod spot, a warm spot, a gentle blowing or a slight pressure. Most importantly as your hand passes over the stone and away the feeling subsides, and as you pass over the stone once again the feeling returns. This is a perfectly natural use of your senses and is important to your magic. |

Keeping your eyes closed pick up your stone. Try to make it so your fingers close around it cleanly, just as they would if your eyes were open. If you don't manage this the first time don't worry, this is natural, just keep trying. Once you can find and pick up your stone hold it in your receptive hand for a while. With your eyes still firmly closed move the stone slowly up and down from your stomach to the top of your head, let it's energy speak to you, can you feel the energy of the stone? A warm ray of sunshine, a cool ray of moonlight? How does it make you feel? Does it effect your mood? Are you calmer? More energized? Happier? Still with your eyes closed move the stone to your projective hand and feel the stone. Is it rough or smooth? Does it feel shiny? Is it warm to the touch or cold? Now, remembering all of the information that your senses and the energy of the stone have provided open your eyes and look at the stone. Notice it's shape, is it a natural crystal, a smooth tumbled stone or a rough mineral chunk? Lastlymove to the colour of the stone. Close your eyes once more and allow the colour to fill your mind. Feel it right in the very centre of your being and connect with it. What does the colour mean to you? What feelings does it bring? What images are in your mind as you think of it? Connecting to each of your stones in this way will help your energies work better together, making your partnership more effective.. |
