He showed up at Refuge in the dead of night, claws clicking against the ground before Lucerna nearly blew him back with startled force. It was only with some smooth talking that she backed down and allowed him in. He proceeded to charm everyone in Refuge with a small smile, deflecting questions about his past and instead making sure that everyone liked him. Despite the wary eye from Lucerna, he was accepted into the fold as the third dragon to truly end up living there besides those who had fashioned the abode, becoming a member of the group without much fuss.

Cassius is in the actual quarters of Refuge a bit less than when he is out walking the Highreach Valley, often keeping within a day's walk of the informal abode. He is often the first face newcomers see from Refuge as he moves about to scout the land, brings back some rarer food and herbs for the others, and simply sightsees. When it isn't of his own free will, Cassius is often tasked with keeping a lookout closer to the mountain pass for reasons he doesn't even know of, eyes roaming the visible area for any search of possible intruders or newcomers. The fourth to stay permanently, Nerva, was caught by his keen eye, the dead of night nearly masking the small Skydancer as he wandered on into the area.

When not outside, Cassius can be found in Refuge's expansive libraries with Iora, their one true friend- even though he teases them about it- or with Nerva, watching them either prepare Refuge's meals or mapping the land with them inside or outside of the abode.

There is something a bit more to him, though, than it seems; a well-mannered dragon, indeed, but sometimes he seems caught up with something none else can comprehend...

Cassius is a creature of the void, stardust and feathers and divinity all rolled up into one. Once, perhaps, he was something approaching normal, but he can never hope to be anything close to that now. Once hollow, now filled with the stars; once bitten, twice shy; raised without memories by something that lurks at the edges of what is there and what is not, Cassius was shuffled about to learn, to grow, and to become.

To become what, he doesn't know. All that he knows is that he has finally found his way to this hidden sliver of the universe, protected by the deities of this land with a barrier against the Shade and any other harmful entities, and he knows that he is safe in some form or fashion.

Cassius is not what he appears to be. Once, he was something bipedal that slowly became covered with wings, less and less of what he once was and more of what his caretaker wanted him to be- now, despite his ease of living in this new dragon form, there is something otherworldly about him, whether it be the gleam in his eye, the glimpse of endless midnight wings in the corner of one's eyes, or any odd turns of phrase that he might say.
