Life for Maro has been a long and storied past. She grew up poor, in the care of a monastery. Orphaned and guided by people of religion, she was steeped in that life for many, many long years. Eventually, she grew understandably restless and ventured to the outside world, where she found a mate, settled, and had children.

Her story grows bitter there, as those were not happy years. Her daughter fell chronically ill, so ill that her healing magics proved useless. Her son's wild magic only incited her superstitious mate's anger, fueling discord and upset. Eventually, things came to a head that ended with the family broken. Maro ran with her children. Her son, Kaiyo, deserted them in a bid to stave off the perceived curse that inflicted them. Her daughter died soon after.

So began her journey of loss and love, to find Kaiyo before her mate, Famaer, found him. Along the way she met a band of strange adventurers and was quickly sucked into their plight. Navi, the warrior that reminded her too much of Famaer; Sora, the otherworldly creature fascinated by even the most macabre of subjects; lastly, Tanryn, the little thief that ended up being her best friend. Together, they faced danger, laughed, cried, ate a lot of chicken, drank a lot of rum, and worked toward the lofty goal of saving their world.

Sadly, their journey would not end well. The villain they had been chasing was her same son, save centuries older and insane beyond all rationale. Though she had the resolve to try and kill her only son, her only living child, his might was simply too much. He killed them all. Delighted in their demise, Mundarne crooned and crowed as his dying mother took her last breaths. But with those breaths, she made a vow. She couldn't let him win. He was her son. Her boy. Her responsibility. And when life left her, her soul refused to part this mortal plane.

Worlds away, a Nature egg sat in the Labyrinth, alone and abandoned. It was cold, left for dead by its weary parents ages ago. However, as vines and vegetation reclaimed it, life suddenly stirred within it. Warmth radiated from the once dud, and out emerged a small dragon with peculiar eyes. There were odd sensations in her. Sensations she inexplicably knew as power, as magic. This magic was great and terrible, and there was someone that she needed to fight with it. Something... A wrong... she needed to right.

She is unaware of how long it has been since the day he won. She only remembers the laugh, the stench of blood, the weakness in her body as her magic failed and drained out of her. That last moment is immortalized in her mind. Beyond that, she remembers precious little. Her name, for example, and a few other names that have no faces attached. She was drawn to the Boneyard, but can't place why.

____Maro's personality has not changed terribly between lives. Before, she was calm, loving, sweet; she was the glue that held their otherwise tumultuous little group together, and she still retains those qualities. Confrontation had once been a stranger to her, an insurmountable foe. During her travels with the group, she gained courage and strength. She obtained the confidence in herself and her friends to face her challenges and fears head on. That confidence only comes out in bursts now, when she is especially emotional about whatever is causing the issue. It disappears quickly, however, and she is unsure where the sudden boosts originate.

____For anyone that truly knew her in her previous life, Maro is a shadow of the person she once was. Oftentimes, she will move about in a daze, following ghosts and shadows her strange eyes play before her. Her feet will follow as if possessed, her mouth and voice will say words they knew long ago. When the haze disappears, she's left bemused and bewildered, unaware of what just occurred.

____Mundarne and his terrible deeds are long forgotten. His name, his face, everything about him save for that horrible laugh have been lost to Death's grasp. There are no details in Maro's personal quest. It is only to find and correct whatever needs fixing. It's just... she needs to figure out what that thing is.

____The Boneyard has begun its influence upon her, but Maro, much like most of the other dragons, doesn't mind it much. She frequently makes her rounds about the lair, searching for whatever has drawn her to the area. She's constantly frustrated, as she is unable to pinpoint it, but tries her hardest to not let that anger upon those undeserving. Therefore, she keeps mostly to herself, and spends much of her time praying to a god she no longer remembers.
