Lin was born from a tree, as all dryads are. As a hatchling she spent most of her time curled around the young oak, sleeping and eating more than anything else. There were, unfortunately, not a tremendous number of dryads near her roots so she grew up in solitude, struggling to fend off predators. However, Lin couldn't help but grow bitter. Why did she have to be born this way, bound to her tree? If she strayed too far her energy faded rapidly and it became difficult to even return to its leaves. As she worked to figure out how she could escape her natural prison, Lin's eyes grew... strange from lack of use. They adapted to the dark, causing light to refract in ways that distorted her vision when it was too bright. Eventually a plan came to mind that she thought could succeed. It had been so long that her scales were faded and rock-colored fungi had grown atop them, sponge-like in texture and oddly absorbent qualities. Her nature magic allowed her to sap life energy from flora and fauna, and, fueled by frustration, Lin drained her own life force from the tree and stored it in the now-permanent growths on her body.
