Every story seems to move with tragedy. But in the cycle of life and death, what comes first? The fallen ancestors, or the newborn generation? Is there even something that separates them, besides time? Old people died. All of them. But we are alive. All of us. So then, what is the true beginning?
Suddenly this young, strangely spared generation had to survive on its own, and having little experience in the means of life, the children looked for a new place to call home. However, Desert didn't want her sister to grow as a servant, and thus they built their home inside a cave lost in the deserted wastelands surrounding a neutral trading post. The young Desert worked as what he despised. He took protection of a lord, doing various deeds for its patron till he was old enough to declare himself independent. Later he became a mercenary, selling the best of his abilities to the highest bidder, not matter how risky the work, he was one determined to get it done. Yet he wasn't a criminal nor sold his skills to do dirty deeds. After all, if he sold his honor, his pride, his soul, it would be the same as becoming the most miserable of beings. Mercenaries that don't stab in the back are a rare thing however, and thus he was really well paid for his honor. He could have given a nice home to his sister. A nice place to rest. Something nice to eat and drink. Or at least gift her some nice clothes. Yet the fruits of all his efforts had come too late. He returned to the little haven in the wasteland only to find it devoid of life. He crushed his pearl into the stone floor and cried. His pearl, as his soul, shattered in a thousand pieces, and he was only able to recover half of those fragments, into the shape of a semi sphere. Now he follows his laws and honor with the most rigid devotion, wondering why did his sister abandon him. |
