Biography
EVERILD the innocent soldier |
Everild started life as a Spiral dragon: a happy, carefree child of the Ashfall Waste. But her innocence was stolen when she was only a juvenile, while she was relaxing near a lava river in her old home. The young dragon was kidnapped by a shady Mirror with a scratchy voice and a powerful, ruthless Snapper. They stole her away, strapped her down, and painfully transformed her into a Ridgeback with the aid of an ancient scroll. She and other kidnapped children were forced to fight each other like dogs so bets could be made and money could be won. They were brutal, awful events, and many ended in death or serious injury. Those that couldn't fight any more were deemed useless and immediately disposed of. Everild spent many years in that place, for it was literally an underground operation. Her hide was littered with lacerations, and her skin clung to her ribs in shriveled heaps. It was because of sheer luck one night that she discovered a pathway out, sneaking past the guards and into the starry sky at the edge of the Scarred Wasteland. Flying until morning out of fear of being discovered, it was the brightness of the sun and the weakness in her damaged wings that forced her to take shelter in Tycho's Peak. There she met Vesuvius, recognizing him as a face from her old clan, and he was forced to tell her of their clan's destruction. Everild is currently recovering in the safety of Tycho's Peak, but had plans to abandon the Starfall Isles in search of her lost clanmates once she was able. As a Spiral hatchling, Everild was cheerful and even a little bit vain, with thoughts of travel and freedom just as any juvenile would have at her age. After spending many years trapped in an underground Hell, however, Everild has learned to cloak any emotion in aggression and ruthlessness. She doesn't want to hurt any other dragons, but lashing out is an almost immediate reaction to anyone who dares get too close. It is only under heavy sedatives that Rhea is able to treat her wounds and give her food. Only a single, lone Maren, whose name remains unknown, is able to near her without being attacked. Perhaps he was a straggler from those underground dungeons. She still retains an ounce of vanity, though, and despises her dull scales, bulky body, and scarred hide. At this point Everild would give anything for the lithe Spiral form she was born with, instead of the body of a monster with bloodstained claws. Everild's temporary home is in The Grotto with Rhea and Belfry, where the darkness protects her weak eyes but also triggers unpleasant memories of her time as an underground fighter. Here she is examined by Rhea and Belfry, appointments that she doesn't remember much once the sedative magic sets in. Each day she grows stronger and a little more tolerant of her caretakers, though her body continues to feel weak and heavy even after a longer recovery period. Everild has her suspicions of Rhea, but her brain is too foggy, her body too weak to follow through with any attacks... One day, she woke up. Her head and body hurt more than she knew was possible, her vision expanding throughout the darkness... If she thought she was a monster before, Rhea's sessions with her had finally turned her into a true horror, with multiple eyes and a brain just weak enough to be fully controlled by magic. |

I'm taking a stand to escape what's inside me.
A monster, a monster,
I've turned into a monster,
A monster, a monster,
And it keeps getting stronger.
