There are whispers in the darkness
I think I hear them in my head
Telling me of wondrous secrets
The world can never comprehend

There are whispers in the darkness
I wonder if they’re the wailings of the ghosts
Who I see prancing there before me
Telling me what I desire most

And they mix with the bright magic
That flashes before my eyes
The lovely clashes of power
That leaves me mesmerized

And I see them in the corners
The darkness that shies from my light
And sometimes, I reach out to them
And pull them into sight

And they have the voices of sirens
Sweet murmurs that cloud my mind
That gives me a sense of power
Not even the gods can deny

They’re my friends and family
Dancing like shades in the dark
And why shouldn’t I let them in
Into the depths of my own heart?

Of course there’s that sense of unease
Of course they tell me I should fear
They say I don’t act like myself
And that I’m leaving shadows everywhere

Of course I don’t quite remember
Doing the things that they say I’ve done
But that’s just weariness and delusions
I won’t let go of this power I’ve won

And yet, there’s something that bothers me
A small voice that sounds like the dead
Telling me that there’s a wrong in the darkness
But I just can’t seem to keep my head.

There are whispers in the darkness
I see shadows instead of light
Something seems off, but no-
Everything’s quite alright.

She whispers in the darkness
The voices she hears in her head
With dark tendrils curling around her
And the faint murmurs of the dead

She whispers in the darkness
In a voice like the final cry of a ghost
And some say she can see them
The lost, vengeful, lonely souls

And you can see the darkness in her magic
The shade that creeps into her eyes
When she displays her arcane power
The shadows leave you paralyzed.

And there was a time she saw them
The dark that dared mix with her light
But instead of fear, she invited
Them to come into her life

And the darkness is alluring
With promises of power that lull the mind
And it didn’t take long before she fell
To their honeyed, murmured lies

She thought them advisors
She saw wisdom in the dark
And fool she was, she dared to let
The Shade into her heart

And it was clear she was at unease
So they all warned her she should fear
For the Shade’s touch is corruptive
But she couldn’t seem to care

And she walked the land with steps heavy
With unfocused eyes and magic that kills
That leaves the earth soaked with darkness
Proof of her control and mind distilled.

And somewhere they know she’s still fighting
A shard of her remains clear in her mind
But how can she escape from the darkness
That leaves even the Eleven terrified?

She whispers in the darkness
There are shadows in her heart
It’s too late to save her from
The monster tearing her apart.
