Biography

★★★ Thief of the Stardust Clan ★★★
xxxxxxxxxxxx ★★★ As a native dragon of the Ice Realm, the frigid cold and unforgiving winters had never bothered Synodic, for he had not only been bred tough, but he also learned from a young age how to truly appreciate the frozen fractals adorning his birth clan. Truly, he was an Ice dragon at heart; he had explored every inch of the Snowsquall Tundra during his hatchling and young adult years, traversed the mountainous terrain of the Cloudscrape Crags once he was old enough to leave his clan, and now his next goal was to conquer the Fortress of Ends, something he’d been preparing nearly his whole life to accomplish. His various adventures and trickster antics had bestowed upon the Spiral many bruises and scars, and as a result he has covered himself with numerous scraps of black linen—a sign that Synodic has been painted with the most dangerous expeditions of a daring dragon’s life.

As a Spiral, Synodic was exceptionally talented at stealing things. Even as a hatchling, he would weave in and out of the cavernous mountains of the Cloudscrape Crags and take items without ever being caught. Everything from jewelry, photos, trinkets, apparel…if it was out in the open and unguarded, Synodic would take it. In his later years, Synodic had even become adept at stealing items hidden away within vaulted lairs, mastering the art of robbing from right under dragons’ noses like magic. One incident in particular has always stuck in his mind.

One evening, Synodic had been jumping from one block of ice to the next in the Frigid Floes, keeping an eye out for any glimmering treasures underwater. Though Synodic was agile, he was not invincible, and with a simple miscalculation, he had plunged into the freezing waters instead of landing on the next ice block. Shocked by the coldness, Synodic flopped about for a bit before grasping the edge of a piece of floating ice. Night was rapidly approaching, and the stars emerged one by one as Synodic regained his surroundings. After shaking himself off, Synodic rested on the ice, nipping at his shivering wings. The stars shone brightly like small diamonds, and he was practically entranced. If only he had the power to harness the stars—then his hoard would be complete, for no other dragon vault in Sornieth would possibly compare.

The event did not stop the Spiral from his expeditions to hoard things, but a new drive gripped his heart. If anything, he was even more encouraged. What he did with the items, no one really knows. He was a hoarder, like most dragons, but ever since his ungraceful nighttime endeavor, Synodic had developed a strange fasciation with the cosmos. The frequency with which he thieved increased drastically, almost turning obsessive, as the Spiral learned new ways to invade clans without notice, pickpocket dragons without consequences, and collect items with no plan in mind. At times, Synodic questioned exactly why he was stealing things. The photographs, in particular, always made him feel something strange. The memories the dragons of Sornieth had with one another…all Synodic had known was the cold and the night. Nothing was ever permanent except for those two things; he could always count on his world being frosted over and for the sky to darken at the end of every day. The stars had given him hope, but perhaps at the same time they also took away his ability to form relationships for very long.

Synodic would come to join Stargazer when the Stardust Clan moved to the Snowsquall Tundra. Synodic had been resting in a slightly warm pocket in the Tundra when he heard the commotion of the clan, and he slinked over to investigate, his large eyes glittering with the thought of stealing something. Stargazer, who had just freshly moved from the Tangled Wood, found Synodic’s deceptive nature and impressive sneakiness to be quite advantageous. Like his name, Synodic could steal nearly a hundred trinkets in the span of a day, and Stargazer offered the Spiral the chance to steal for a purpose. The galactic clan intrigued Synodic, and he thought perhaps, maybe just perhaps, with Starcatcher and Mythology’s assistance, Synodic thought he could steal the stars one day.
