Late at night, deep in the Starwood Strand, when it is close to the midnight hour, you may catch a glimpse of something strange in the corner of your eye. There are many spirits in the Starwood Strand. Some are ethereal, like the lost souls of the Beast clans, but others look all too real, too much like living dragons.
These are the Ghost Petals. Some say they are the lost souls of dragons who couldn’t find their way to the Arcanist and whom roam, lost forever in the depths of the Strand. Others will say that these are indeed living dragons, those who found a way to cross the veil between the realms of the living and the exhalted, and they have the power to travel between the realms as they choose.
These are the hauntingly beautiful lost souls of the Starwood Strand. They linger, just out of sight and slightly out of reach, but they are there. Their scales are as black as the midnight itself, and yet you can still see the white skeleton underneath. Their wings are soft and translucent, and are the only thing that truly gives them away. If you manage to catch a glimpse of a skeleton dancing through the Strand, you are safe if you see butterfly wings.
To all those who have encountered them, the Ghost Petals have been peaceful. They are not vengeful spirits looking to haunt the living, but merely spirits who have found peace and now know the secrets to this world, as surely the Arcanist has always wanted for his children. Although they do not behave in an aggressive way, it is always wise to treat the spirits with respect. For all the stories that are told about them, they are either not of this world, or they are far more knowledgeable than those who are still bound to the living world. It would be wise not to anger them.
