It’s been many years since I have wrote. Only through good grace Mezzotine given us journals. Not sure what i will do with it. Ginger writes about Frogenstill and what we do. I tell her not to worry about it. She doesn’t listen. In case we die. I tell her it’s taken millennia for that to happen.

Much too long, I think. I tell her we’ve overstayed our welcome. She doesn’t listen either. She thinks I joke. I don’t, really.

I am Perrecaba. Perrebaba? Perrebaca. One of three. Often called only Perre. Once had surname. Forgot it. Ginger tells me it is Liciatvellus. It sounds right. I am a Sentenial. Or a Seeker. We don’t have many. Depends on what’s needed. I am also very old. So is everyone else here. Almost. We had younglings. All left. Ginger doesn’t think about them. I do. Hope they’re alright, sometimes. Sure they are.

Frogenstill is alright. It used to be cold. Not anymore. Changed that for myself. Kinda lonely. I sometimes request more staff. Not enough space to house them. A shame. Had once once. Passed. Wonder where he went.

Being a Seeker is alright. See a lot more than I did as Sentinel. More colors. Not all white. It can be pretty, sometimes. Get homesick for things I've never done. Sometimes I think it’d be nice t’ fly. Somma Earthshaker’s kids can’t do that. I know t’ rule them out when hunting. Shade would never take a form w no easy escape.

I’ve seen a good ‘mount o’ Gaolers when hunting. Odd to see hatchln’s runnin an havin fun. Never happened like that w me an Ginger. Training, eventually movin’ to another warden. Some clans take’m in. The First ruled we should let’m. Easier access to Shade-huntin. Tha’ bugger’s ereywhere now. It annoyes the fur offa Mezz. I don’t see the big deal. No’ anymore. It ain’t hurtin no-one.

Intents: to do his job, and do it well.

To continue surviving, he supposes. To share his opinion that he’s done his adventuring. He’s old and constantly tired and doesn’t understand Gingerdoodle’s constant vigor- isn’t she older than him anyway?

To get more in-tune with the modern dragonkin, despite that being… difficult as it is.

The ice was left behind thudding footsteps with the intent of heavy dragging fur, none of the workers active offering to trim it. Not that the Gaoler cared. He was on a mission, a mission from his god. Festivals are a breeding ground for the Shade, the monster forced into small pockets and gathering enough to shape. This one was a Nocturne, maybe a Skydancer, maybe a Tundra. It couldn’t decide. Perre decided for them.

This one was frozen.
