There is a comparison between the Tangled Wood and the Starwood Strand that most dragons would agree on; the ability to become lost... quite easily. However it's more of a philosophical way for those who wander too long within the blossoming forests of the Arcane realm. Ethereal is much unlike the normal dragon as she is elusive and mysterious. She has no home, no real name, and some question if she even has a living body. The fluorescent Tundra has been seen by a few scholars wandering the woods with small lights dancing behind her. She sings to them like they were little hatchlings. Her voice is softer than the lightest satin to those with the patience to listen for it. At the final light of dusk Ethereal will guide her dancing lights to the ancient, crumbling relics strewn around the forest. These shrines were said to once have been used as guiding points for Travelers so they didn't lose their way, but instead became markers for the deaths of those who were lost to the dangers that resided there. As she prances along, she sings a tune around each shrine, and one light will rest inside the bosom of the cobblestone statue where a single lantern resides. The light becomes a flame. There it stays lit, unwavered by anything that would try to blow it out. Its guardian continues on, repeating the dance to every shrine in the strand. When the night is dark and the wary traveler comes on their way to the Focal Point, they may see the blue lights of the Wisp Candles, lighting their way to safety. Each of those little lights is no mere firefly or form of magic, but a soul. One lost by fear or Beastclan, by folly or grief, never to remain lost as she beckons them to follow her to a shrine where they can be put to rest and light the way for the rest of the living. --- ♦ --- |
