This was it. He could finally feel it.
For years, he had wondered if there was something wrong with him. He had never felt that tugging in his soul that so many of his elders had described. He had never felt his internal compass yearning for a new destination. Often, Ritonus considered the possibility that he had somehow been born without an instinct for The Search at all. Perhaps no Charge would want a Guardian as ugly as he was.
But finally, on this day, he could feel it. His claws itched with determination. His wings flapped impatiently. His head whirled and his stomach churned as he suddenly felt that he could stand still no longer. This feeling was magnetic, pulling him closer and closer to his Charge with every waking moment.
With a deep, satisfied sigh, he spread his wings and took flight. It was time for his journey to begin.
