Biography
Krystallos's story of the past, as recorded by another:
Mandee wrote:
The first thing Krystallos remembers is waking up to pain. Two of her limbs were crushed and her wings mostly useless. She was nursed back to health by a group of dragons who had been abandoned by their leaders, and left stranded in the tundra. One of the groups' lightning dragons fashioned for her mechanical limbs and supports for her wings, and over time she grew to be the leader of the clan. Aided by her guardian, an old and wise dragon named Kai. She was a strong, capable leader, though she was often haunted by ghosts of a past she couldn't fully remember.
Her past returned to her in the form of her old mate, Celsius. The two attempted to rekindle their relationship, even laying a nest together, but Krystallos remained convinced she could never return to being the "Crystal" her mate remembered, and she could sense his dissatisfaction with this new version of her. The two, finally resigned to their sad fate, decided to end their relationship as mates. Krystallos found solace with her guardian, whom she took as her new partner, and she was content.
Soon after the birth of Kai and Krystallos's first son, Crystal re-emerged. Differing vastly from her alter ego, Crystal was mild and almost meek. Utterly devoted to Celsius, she desired nothing more than to leave the clan Krystallos had built and return to her old home with Celsius. Krystallos fought to remain with the dragons who followed and supported her, and soon the two personalities were waging a quiet war within her mind. Neither could win, and neither could function, and the clan suffered for the absence of its leader. Celsius and Kai, too, suffered for the lack of their mate. This realization drove Krystallos and Crystal into an agreement - they would leave the clan in Celsius and Kai's care, and seek to enter the Icewarden's service, so their existence would no longer inflict pain on the ones they loved.
Though they stole away in the middle of the night, as not to be followed, they were followed still. Both their mates steadfastly refused to leave her side. Celsius was far too devoted to Crystal to allow her to leave without him, and Kai was bound to Krystallos as her guardian; he had no choice to but to follow his charge. Krystallos cried to the Icewarden in desperation. How she wished Kai's form might change, so he would not be chained to her in such a way!
Not only did Kai's form change, but the entire trio changed. Celsius was graced by the moon's light; his markings became more striking, his wings even more grand. The massive guardian, Kai, was suddenly transformed into a bewilderingly small skydancer. Krystallos's injured wings and limbs were fully healed. She grew new feathers, and their beauty outshone any she had ever seen. She was joined by a tiny snow spirit, whose rapidly fluttering wings whispered quietly for her to return home.
