The Curious

If you have ever looked into the deep blue pools that are Sterling's eyes, you have seen pure interest and amazement, completely unhindered by the chaos of the world.

The first time I looked up at night, I was amazed. These tiny pinpricks of light, coming through the pitch black sky like needle holes in a piece of black fabric.
I thought, maybe if I flew up far enough, I could touch them. I could talk to them, (did they have voices?) I could make friends with them. Everyone was always saying to me,
"No, Sterling, not now, Sterling, ask someone else, Sterling." But I wanted to know now. With all my strength, I flew above the thick pine forests. I flew so High I could see the shore of the Viridian Labyrinth. As I flew higher, I heard wingbeats behind me. I turned my head, and saw Ghost, one of the forest guard.
"Sterling! You'll wear yourself out. Come down!" I knew what he meant, but the spots of light drew me closer still. The sound of wingbeats grew louder, and then Ghost was in front of me.
"Don't make me come down!" I cried. "I need to meet the spots!"
"We'll tell you about them when we get down." Ghost coiled around me while still flapping his wings.
"We're flying down. Now" I was powerless to the stronger dragon's grip. We reached the ground.
"Those," He said "are stars."
