Biography

Once a highly revered priestess many years ago, Vegas consorted with the
Shadowbinder and Lightweaver to bring peace and prosperity to the dragons she came upon regardless of their flight. Although incredibly young, she travelled the world dedicating her life to the betterment of others. Dragons around Sornieth started considering her a god of sorts, creating temples in her honor as she restored life using her magic. She had cult followings in every element, and had produced a fragile sort of peace between all flights. Dragons could travel wherever they wanted under the watchful eyes of Vegas’s influence and whispered her name whenever some sort of luck struck them.
Eventually these whispers traveled to the ears of the flight deities. When the Lightweaver and Shadowbinder found out of Vegas’s dedication to both, they became embittered by jealousy, each claiming Vegas as theirs.
In a fit of rage, both deities struck her down at the same time,
splitting her soul in half and instantly killing her mortal body.

A millenia later Vegas wakes up choking on mud.

She tore her way through the swamp muck, algae and insects and water filling her lungs, choking her, killing her, suffocating her. Body desperately writhing, dirt gathering behind her fingernails, she broke through, a wild look in her eyes. She could hear the hum of insects, an algae strider jumping out of her mouth. A tense feeling of foreboding hung in the air, as if this was the birthplace of a great tragedy, a murder that shook the realms.
God, she was so thirsty.
Her body ached—bones as if they were made gravel. Exhausted, her frail husk of a body collapsed into the lake, a lone toridae daring to venture near before trashing desperately in a wild attempt to escape, sensing the absolute magnanimity of darkness within the moving corpse that lay. Slowly, she dragged her emaciated frame through the swamp and onto the squelching, but stable, earth as her body heaved and wheezed.

Blinking once, she tried
gathering her surroundings.
That’s strange.
She tried blinking again.
And again.
She rubbed her eyes with her claws, dry mud falling off in clumps.
Oh god.
The panic set in as she realized she couldn’t see. Defeated and scared, she cried out into the wild and tore into her heart like a wild animal, a sound like shattered glass breaking through the distant thrum of wildlife and silencing it, desperate for an escape. Her anger and confusion clouded her judgement and her thoughts, and she attacked anything that dared get too close before she'd die from the wound she inflicted. She assumed she had splattered her blood onto the grass, but when she dug into the gaping hole within her chest, she found a slow, thick substance similar to that of molasses oozing out, a primal rage and maliciousness emanating with such intensity that it instantly tamed her, face contorted in fear. Hands still covered in ooze, she rubbed her face and ears, and instantly shriveled in pain.

Her head throbbed and burst open, a thick, crystalline shell blanketing the substance that grew within the areas it touched. The swamp was still as she tapped a claw against her ear.
It was made of... some sort of crystalline shell? She could feel it, but she couldn't hear it.

She realized the entire forest had grown still.
She screamed, and heard nothing. Desperate for help, she couldn't help but sob as she tried her best to find help.

Blind and deaf, she crawled her way through the humid swamp, eyes glazed over as her claws connected with the dirt one after the other. But a dragon could only fight for so long, especially a half-dead one. She gave up, and let nature run wild. For a year she lay on the grass, algae spreading, mushroom colonies creeping, and, surprisingly, delicate, wild flowers blooming. Animals had made nests upon her weary body, for she could not move an inch, hear a whisper, or see a movement. She only felt the constant thrum of life around her.

Her priestess garbs eventually withered away, leaving only traces of the opulent, sparkling silks once adorning her body. Her crown of stars, once covering her head like a veil, fell apart, only small traces left behind, memories hidden deep within the depths.
